#Giving
Tuesday
Poster based on the results
of the campaign in 2022
Every year for 10 years now, at the end of November, the #givingtuesday has been held in more than 100 countries around the world. This is a day when people share their experience of charity. Traditionally, it was thought that it would be a shame to talk about how you help someone. But in fact, it really helps others to start doing charity too, brain scientists confirm, the example is contagious.

This year, on November 29, #givingtuesday was held in Russia for the seventh time.
And I decided to tell about #givingtuesday in my own way. I used anonymized data from a friendly project blago.ru, who helps NGOs raise money for their wards. And by the way, they had record collections this year.

To begin with, I studied how people donated money throughout the day.

There is no division into transactions on the chart, it seemed important to me to show exactly the total amount. Donations ranged from 10 to 50,000 rubles. But anyone who does charity work will tell you — any help is important.
It is very cool that donations started literally at midnight. From 3 to 6 in the morning, people expectedly slept, but there was someone who made a donation at 4:01. And in the morning, when everyone woke up, the peak came — a great way to improve the beginning of the November day. And the people did not give up further and donated until the next day. Phew! We did it!
For the background circles, I aggregated the same data for each hour and divided them down and colored by recipient. Donations were especially active at night to the "DetskieDomiki" (Children's Houses) charity fund for helping children, and in the morning to the Sverdlovsk public organization of the disabled "Solnechnye Deti" (Sunny Children) and the "Providenie" (Providence) charity fund.
"Solnechnye Deti" (Sunny Children), "DetskieDomiki" (Children's Houses) and "Providenie" (Providence) are the leaders in collections this year, but other funds and organizations also received help. The area of the circle on the picture below corresponds to the amount of donations received during this year's GivingTuesday.
This year #givingtuesday has ended, but you can help on any other day. If you want to, here is the website of my friends blago.ru, they often hold other events to help those NGOs who find it difficult to raise money for their wards on their own. Your help, even informational, will not be superfluous.
